Immigrant family's at work
At this period of time children were allowed to work. So immigrants took advantage of this. The immigrants sent everyone to work. This may seem drastic but even then they only had enough money to buy food. This troubled many immigrants. They had to eat small meals and never ever waste money. The working conditions were harsh for what you got. Most worked in big factory's, usually around big dangerous equipment. This caused a lot of injury's. one of the most dangerous tools was a spinning loom. Spinning looms were large and dangerous. To make these huge machines more dangerous, bosses would force children to climb under these machines to get cotton that had fallen. This risked chopping off arms or legs. And to top it all off, they would get payed minimum wage.
